This Anthony Weiner thing is ridiculous. With all the scandals uncovered by media, shouldn’t we understand by now the presence of human nature in politicians? The reason why we remember Clinton is because of Monica Lewinsky and I’m betting the same for the legend of ‘The Governator’ in years to come. Yeah, it’s a shame our government officials aren’t perfect, but they’re not gods in a Greek Myth. This is the land of the free, there are options with everything and no matter where you are or who you come from, you’re susceptible to wrongful indulgence and even the most virtuous can err.

How can we expect immediate honesty from someone when it’s rightly assumed that we’ll ostracize them for their indiscretion anyway? Politicians are pushed into a corner when confronted with the media and though the attempt to cover up an embarrassment can seem spineless, it’s an instinctual form of self-preservation we’ve seen many a time before.

I understand Democrats are hesitant to back up a politician that behaved immorally but bullying someone into resigning because of personal issues is unfair. If we instead practiced forgiveness and understanding,  maybe situations like these would cease to blow up and the focus could remain on what’s really important. Here’s hoping!
